Aiming for progress, not perfection.

"...being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you
will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."

technicolor.

they pick their own clothes when we stay home. and sometimes when we don't.

there is no rhyme or reason.

just whatever feels right.

i admire that about them.

who says patriotic plaid shorts can't go with a surfer-sunset-scene tee?

or teal stripes and pink flowers is a bit busy?

not them.

they even make chipped nail polish look good.
and light for the lost hats stolen from mamo's playroom.
even if they are a little too big.

if you ask me, these two are a lotta bit too big.

fresh baked.

ellie has a sticker chart. when she fills the chart (for doing good things), she gets to pick a "treat." recently, she chose to buy easter shaped cookie cutters and make cookies with mommy. i offered this as a suggestion, among other things, and i love that she picked it. i think quality time as a treat is so much better than some toy that will end up forgotten in a corner. it doesn't hurt that the side effect to this quality time is super yummy.

we still have more dough. i substituted 2 of the 5 cups of all-purpose flour the recipe called for with whole wheat flour. the cookies are not as white as regular sugar cookies, but just as delicious, in my opinion. i'm pretty sure the three sticks of butter + the powdered sugar icing eliminated any hint of "health" in these, however, wheat flour or not.

ellie and i ended up with a couple helpers about halfway through our date. since they were cute boys, we didn't mind their joining in.

yay for cookies!

a little boy's night stand.

right before i clicked off his lamp, something told me to pause.
the night stand, overflowing with trucks, cars, dinosaurs and blocks seemed so poignant.
days spent playing and pretending, please go slow.
