ellie has been quite persnickety about her hair and clothes and shoes lately. battles over what she thinks looks good and what mommy thinks looks good have been occurring more and more. it is challenging my controlling self quite a bit, and, to be honest, i have been allowing myself the last word most of the time so far. lucky for me, she gets over it quick.
just now, she came to me in an outfit she pulled out of her closet on her own. i ooh'd and ahh'd over it, and she was so proud. she really didn't do half bad. i should probably give in to her more often. she is, afterall, nearly FOUR years old.
when i said, "oh, ellie! what a good job! how did you learn how to put together such cute outfits?!" she said, "well. that's just how Jesus made me!"
so big. and so right.
Aiming for progress, not perfection.
"...being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you
will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."

How could you doubt her sense of style?! She is, in fact, your daughter! ;)
So cute!
I agree with Ree! :)
She is so proud of herself...as she should be...she looks fab! :)
I think letting a child choose what they want to wear builds a lot of self confidence. Usually their peers will help guide them, too. If she goes to school and someone says her outfit looks silly she will either adjust her choices the next time or not care and continue to be herself! Either way, that's great! They should know that they are capable of making decisions themselves. Also I bet she will have a lot of personal style because of it later in life!
