the terrible 2's are way too early.

i don't know what has gotten into my sweet baby girl, but she is all of a sudden the queen of screeching attitude.

we're talking screaming during any menial task - hair washing, dressing, diaper changing, undressing, hand wiping, etc.

and throwing things and slapping at people and things and flailing of arms and legs and...

i'm at a loss. it continues throughout the day; it isn't just when she's sleepy or something, though it does get way worse then.

a week ago she was a happy angel. she's only 1!!!

i really hope she's getting teeth or something.

does anyone have any tips on how to handle this? it is wearing me down like woah, and i'm not sure what to do. i don't want to let her get away with it, but it seems any stern "no," smack on the hand or even a spanking (her first real ones, on her bottom) only make her scream longer and louder, and she doesn't quit the behavior.

no me gusta este. ayuda por favor.

Just look at it this way... she is getting it out of the way! So when all of her friends are being terrible when they are 2 Ellie will be done being terrible! :)

It is just a phase. She will go through many more. I am actually learning about it in one of my classes right now, and she is in the stage called the Preoperational stage-
This is the stage where language development begins. The child becomes EGOCENTRIC. But the child still doesn't have the ability to think logically or operationally.
Don't worry though the age range for this stage is only 2-7 years old!

I LOVE YOU!!!

I was in the impression that the egocentric stage last until their 18 yr.. :) Be firm and stand your ground.

no se como ayudarte lo siento. no mas lo mismo cosa que estas asciendo. Be firm and consistent. I agree with her lack of communitication being frustational for her. Just in case check make sure she is not hurting anywhere.
