i got a great suggestion from la on how to tackle my tragedy of a home -- people like you, la, are my inspiration. SHE has three kids and a perfect house, i can do it too! well, probably not perfect, but a little closer to it than i am now.
even better is the thought of just cleaning the kitchen makes me feel like i could take on some other things this afternoon and evening as well. it's just a matter of breaking it down a bit, and then it looks tacklable. i don't think that's a word, but who cares.
so.. since this is only one example of the infinately wise women reading my blog, i have another one for ya.
how did your kid learn to drink from a sippy cup? i have one that i give ellie with water in it, but she uses it as a toy so far.
i'm not stressing or anything. just wondering if there is some trick to it.
???
Aiming for progress, not perfection.

will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink...
Ok - so she ain't a horse, but that is one of those light bulb moments for little ones. keep giving it to them and one day, they just 'get it'
Ok - give me the next one....
*wink*
At the risk of sounding like a know-it-all since I had such a long comment on one of your lasts posts:
I've never had luck getting my babies to try a new drink in a new cup. I usually let them try something new in a bottle first. Some babies are thrilled with water (John David was) and others might need diluted juice to get excited.
Also, make sure you get a sippy cup with a squishy mouthpiece, not a hard one. There are several good kinds, but I think Gerber makes the kind I really like with the big handles for them to hold.
Either way, she's way too young to be concerned about it. Let her keep using it as a toy and she'll get thirsty eventually. =)
BTW, I'm so glad that my nagging helped in some way. I was very unsure whether or not to leave that comment. Happy cleaning! Do we get before and after pictures???
This is only the way that I got my kids to drink out of things. I started with a straw that had a little water(whatever) then plugged the other end. I would let them suck on it or just let it drizzle into her mouth. She final understood that in order to get the drink dhe had to suck. Other then that I have nothing!!!
Wow E, that was just what I was going to suggest and I decided to read first and see if anyone else was as brilliant as me...
The straw thing works and I think my kids were drinking out of a star at 3 months! ;]
