being born is hard.

the nursery nurse just came here to tell me that my two-day-old baby has a broken collar bone.

super early this morning when the nurse (a different one) brought ellie to me for a feeding, she said she'd felt some movement in the baby's right collarbone. she called the pediatrician, and she ordered an x-ray for 4 a.m.

my pediatrician came in at 8 a.m. or so and told me the results weren't back yet, but she didn't feel the movement.

i guess she was wrong.

the results show her right collarbone has a small fracture that most likely happened during delivery.

poor baby.

we don't do anything. we just can't move her by her right shoulder or lay her on her right side with the exception of feedings. it should heal on it's own.

her she is right now -- real time photos -- with her daddy.

doesn't she look devestated?
