Aiming for progress, not perfection.

"...being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you
will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."

tonight.

tonight seemed surreal. colors seemed brighter. smells seemed stronger. the messes on all the counters (and floors and furniture and beds) weren't stressing me out like they usually do. yelling and running and crashing wasn't testing my patience at the end of the day like normal.

blessings seemed more apparent.

kids fighting over a plastic cup made me smile.

diaper-clad boys under my feet while i cooked warmed my heart.

simple eggs and biscuits with honey seemed gourmet.

soy milk smoothies tasted extra sweet.

bathing babies playing brought tears to my eyes.

sermon-studying husband filled my heart with thanksgiving.

the scariness of situations endured by good friends today has served to bring clarity to my eyes. healthy, happy family is most important. today was a reminder to not take it for granted, not to waste perfect, every day moments with a bad attitude and anxiety over stupid things like throw pillows on the living room floor or snack-covered kitchen counters.

josiah, you are already being used of God. His plan for your life is great. early this morning He saved you and your mama, and someday He will save souls through you. "the Lord saves," indeed.

before i tucked the kids into bed tonight, i read them more books than i usually do. i stroked their soft cheeks a little bit longer. i prayed with more fervor.

thank you, Jesus. thank you, thank you, thank you.
